Developer to Implement Dark Mode Toggle on Website
Skills Required
Description
Dark mode is becoming a user expectation, especially among tech-savvy audiences. I’d like to implement a smooth toggle feature that allows visitors to switch between light and dark themes on our website.
The current layout is clean, but lacks a dark mode option. This project involves coding the toggle functionality and ensuring consistent visual presentation across all pages.
Design files are already prepared in Figma with both themes defined. The task will mostly involve front-end development and fine-tuning styles.
It’s important that the transition between themes feels seamless — no page reloads or jarring UI jumps.
Ideally, the toggle should remember the user’s preference using local storage or cookies, so it’s retained across sessions.
Compatibility is a must. All major browsers and devices should handle the toggle without any visual glitches or performance issues.
Experience with JavaScript and CSS transitions will be essential. Bonus if you’ve worked with Shopify themes or custom HTML integrations.
This is a standalone feature, but must be implemented with best practices in mind, especially for accessibility and performance.
Timeline is flexible, but I'd prefer someone who can deliver within 1–2 weeks after onboarding.
Key Expectations:
Implement toggle switch UI from Figma design
Write clean, modular JavaScript
Ensure theme transition without reload
