Set Up Google Analytics 4 with Custom Events on React Site
Skills Required
Description
We’re looking for someone who can help us properly set up Google Analytics 4 (GA4) on our React-based website. Our current tracking is outdated and doesn’t reflect user interactions accurately. It’s crucial that we get meaningful data from the site, especially around user flows, button clicks, and conversions.
Our site is fully built in React (no server-side rendering), and we’d like to ensure GA4 is set up the right way, with custom events for specific user actions — including signups, scroll depth, video plays, and CTA clicks. You don’t need to handle any design or UI; we just need the tracking configured and tested.
You’ll be working closely with our in-house developer to make sure everything is implemented smoothly. That includes testing events through the GA4 debug view and providing documentation so our team can understand how it works moving forward.
We’re also using Webflow for landing pages, so basic experience with integrating GA4 there would be helpful too — but this project is primarily React-focused.
To succeed in this role, you should be familiar with:
✅ Implementing GA4 via Google Tag Manager or direct script
✅ Setting up custom events in React apps
✅ Debugging and validating events in GA4
✅ Understanding of event parameters and conversions
✅ Cross-domain tracking (a plus but not required)
✅ Clear documentation and communication
