Audit GTM Implementation for E-commerce
Skills Required
Description
Ensuring precise tracking is vital for our e-commerce success, and we need a sharp eye to evaluate our Google Tag Manager (GTM) setup. This role focuses on auditing every GTM container used on our online store.
The current GTM integration is inconsistent across pages. We’re looking for someone to identify where tags are missing or misfiring, and recommend a cleanup plan.
You’ll be expected to review tag triggers, variables, and built-in events for accuracy.
A strong understanding of JavaScript and React will be important, as our site uses these technologies extensively on the frontend.
Working knowledge of Klaviyo, especially how it tracks user behavior via GTM, is preferred.
Here’s what we’ve noticed: duplicate events, incorrect trigger conditions, and an unoptimized data layer setup.
We’d like you to also review conversion tags for platforms like Google Ads, Meta, and other custom scripts.
☑️ Inspect GTM containers and tag triggers
☑️ Identify tag conflicts and firing issues
☑️ Analyze GA4 and ecommerce events setup
☑️ Review dataLayer structure
☑️ Recommend performance improvements
☑️ Suggest tag consolidation where needed
☑️ Validate tags using GTM preview mode
☑️ Collaborate with devs for final deployment
This is an entry-level contract but requires high attention to detail. If you’ve previously worked with fast-paced ecommerce platforms, that’s a huge bonus.
